Diano d’Alba located at about 500m above sea level, can be considered the ideal balcony from which to admire the hilly landscape of the western and eastern Langhe. From the hills of Monferrato, Roero, the gaze shifts towards the magnificent scenery of the Alpine arc over the mountains of Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, which frame this panorama.

Here is located, with its 27 hectares of farm, the Abrigo Fratelli winery, which produces wines in one of the most suitable Italian territories for viticulture, the Langhe. A family-run business since its inception, when the Abrigo family, originally from the Barbaresco area, settled in 1935 in the Cascina dei Berfi, now the headquarters of the company. Over time, the company passed from the hands of Aldo to his sons Ernesto and Franco.IMG 1838

Today the company is headed by Ernesto Abrigo, supported by his sister Mariarita, his son Walter and son-in-law Emanuele Antona, who manages the wine compartment. From the beginning Ernesto, just graduated from the Oenological School of Alba, decidedly focused on Dolcetto. But these are lands that are too precious not to take advantage of an expansion of production over the years, alongside the Dolcetto, Barbera, Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, Arneis and Favorita, up to the production of the first Alta Langa Docg and of the first Barolo cru Ravera.

To date, the annual production is about 60,000 bottles. this is possible, not only for the geographical position, the altitude and the perfect exposure of the grapes and the right composition of the soil, but also for a manpower composed, not only by the Abrigo family, but by employees who are the beating and professional heart of the company, which reflect its philosophy and care, that is, that of maintaining a tradition without losing contact with innovation and technique.

The line offered is well organized in its 7 labels, among which the Barolo Ravera, aged 24 months in Allier oak barrels, rich, enveloping and of great bulk, or the Diano d’Alba Superiore, a fragrant wine that combines elegantly drinkable and structured, the inevitable Barbera d’Alba Superiore, with a very enthralling vibrant acidity shoulder, but the Alta Langa Metodo Classico Brut, obtained from Chardonnay, also to be taken into consideration, represents an interpretation of great character and strength for a denomination, the Alta Langa, which is enjoying increasing success and curiosity in the world of international sparkling wine. The wines signed Abrigo Fratelli, as it is in the Piedmontese spirit, have in themselves that ancient secret, strong of a millenary tradition, however capable of interfacing with the future.
