Agraria Riva del Garda’s History and Philosophy

In Trentino, in the area of Lake Garda, the history of winemaking dates back to the second half of the first millennium B.C. The mild climate favors the growth of vines, olive trees, palm trees and lemon trees, creating a Mediterranean oasis in the Alps. Also the great poet Goethe was moved by the beauty of the lake during his trip in Italy in 1786.
The winery Agraria Riva del Garda is located on the northern slopes of the largest lake in Italy: this area is particularly favorable to winemaking due to its special microclimate, and the winery grows several varieties of local and international vines.

The history of the winery started in 1926 when the association Agraria Riva del Garda was founded; the cellar opened in 1957, and the current 300 members are farmers who joined to create an integrated economic system participating in the development of the territory of Garda Trentino, still faithful to the original mission, and becoming an example of successful business. In 1965 the cooperative started a new activity founding an olive-oil mill producing an excellent EVO.

Thanks to the parceling out of the land and to the care and respect of the soil during the growth of the vines, the companies making up the cooperative are able to guarantee the quality of the grapes and the resulting wines produced in the cellar equipped with modern machinery but adopting traditional methods. The production reaches about 3,300 tons of grapes harvested, pressed and vinified in compliance with the DOC,IGT and organic regulations, resulting in nationally and internationally awarded wines.

The wines of Agraria Riva del Garda

The wide range is divided into several lines, such as Le Selezioni, with top range wines selected already when planting the vines in the most favorable areas of  Alto Garda. Among these, one of the most representative wines of the cellar, “Maso Élesi”, an elegantly refined Pinot Noir produced in an organic vineyard. Then, the smooth Merlot “Créa”, the lively, mineral Chardonnay “Loré”.

The Apponale lines includes a selection of 12 DOC wines (except for the Teroldego), and the bubbles line Bollicine di Riva includes the noteworthy sparkling wine Trento DOC Metodo Classico Brezza Riva. Finally, the Classic line, a range fully representing the area of Garda Trentino.
