Ascevi Luwa’s History and Philosophy

The Ascevi Luwa company is located in San Floriano del Collio, a municipality in the production area of ​​Collio controlled designation of origin wines, in the province of Gorizia, located between the Isonzo rivers in the east and Judrio in the west and close to the border with Slovenia. The territory is formed by a sequence of hills that develop almost uninterruptedly along the east-west route, offering a magnificent landscape that sees the alternation of vineyards and forests of acacias and cherry trees. Here the 30 hectares of property are cultivated where, thanks to the favorable microclimate conditions, the excellent exposure with an average altitude between 150 and 250 m asl and the soil consisting of stratified marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, called ponca, rich in structure and mineral salts, wines of great value are produced.

The history of this company dates back to the early 70s when Mariano Pintar made the decision to buy a small piece of land and transform it into a vineyard, with the help of his wife Loredana. Over the years the surface has increased and since then the management is familiar, so much so that it is also evident from the name of the company, Luwa is in fact the union of the names of the sons Luana and Walter, which represent the new and well-integrated generation , while Ascevi is the toponym of Asci – locality of San Floriano del Collio where the first vineyard was planted.

The wines of Ascevi Luwa

The processing both in the vineyard and in the cellar has specialized thanks to modern technologies and the constant search for new oenological practices, offering mostly traditional white wines from Friuli: the indigenous Ribolla Gialla and Friulano, and the international Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio. Among the reds, the production is represented by Cabernet Sauvignon. The line also includes an excellent sparkling wine, Galeon Ribolla Gialla, produced with the Charmat method. A winery that aims above all for quality and identity, obtaining a product recognized and appreciated nationally and internationally. Among the wines to be underlined of great character and elegance are the two white wines: Collio Sauvignon Ronco dei Sassi and Collio Chardonnay Rupis.
