Azienda Prunotto

(ALBA – CUNEO) The Prunotto company, with more than 100 years of its foundation, produces great red wines of the Piedmontese tradition, knowing how to maintain quality and tradition over time with consistency, foresight and biodiversity.

The wine tradition in a region like Piedmont does not necessarily translate into quality, because the world of wine is a sector where evolution is the key to success, and it is precisely this key that has made the difference for the Prunotto Company.

The Prunotto company is located in Piedmont, a few kilometers from Alba , from the ancient toponym “white city” , which for history and economic role is the most important center of the Langhe . Here the Prunotto Company resides immersed in that typical landscape of the hills that alternate with the small valleys and where the gyrated rows open onto the soft plain surrounded by vineyards that tell the border between the Langhe and Roero through wine.

The company is currently managed by the President Albiera Antinori of the Marquis Antinori family , one of the oldest family businesses in the world. In fact, the Antinori are an ancient patrician family of Florence, originally from the Val di Sieve, whose history is strongly intertwined with that of wine, such as Tignanello, father of the Super Tuscan , where Sangiovese becomes magical thanks to the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which made Antinori great in the world.

The beginning of the collaboration with Prunotto dates back to 1989; the Antinori family have always lived the Langhe territory with that sense of duty that respects work: a key value that gives dignity to that legacy left from 1904 onwards to the founder Alfredo Prunotto , at the time young and keen entrepreneur. A legacy based on real, tiring work, which requires hard work and foresight, for a company that has managed to maintain its standard high thanks to successors who have alternated such as Fratelli Colla, who retired in 1994, and continuing to maintain that excellent quality level strongly desired by Alfredo Prunotto.

The most important objectives to date, for the Antinori family, are to consistently maintain a production aimed at a more careful and controlled product from birth, thanks to the vineyards of: Costamiole, in Agliano, for the production of Nizza, to the Colonello vineyard in the Bussia cru, one of the most renowned in the Barolo area and to the land in Calliano for the study and analysis of new vines such as Albarossa and Syrah, to the 5-hectare vineyard in the Barbaresco area, named “Bric Turot” and, in addition, one of 5 hectares in the Treiso area for the production of Moscato, for a total extension of about 63 hectares of vineyards in the best wine-growing areas of Piedmont.

Thanks to a production structure equipped with the most modern technologies, in order to guarantee the highest quality of wines and to help consolidate their position on the national and international scene, great red wines are produced in compliance with Piedmontese traditions. The Antinori experience lies in increasing sensitivity, new knowledge and restoring the pride of biodiversity to individual territories and which continue to make Prunotto, like other companies managed by the Antinori family, a reality of the highest importance in the world.
