Cantine dell’Angelo

(TUFO – AVELLINO) The Muto family has been involved in the production of wine from Greco di Tufo grapes for over three generations. The white wines that are produced, such as Greco di Tufo Miniere and Greco di Tufo Torrefavale, are of the highest quality.

Cantine dell’Angelo’s History and Philosophy

The Greek di Tufo is a wine that is part of the history of Italy until the first century. BC, known and appreciated by the ancient Greeks and Romans. It was the ancient Greeks who transplanted it to the province of Avellino, where it managed to adapt perfectly thanks to the particular minerality of the land. This wine represents its territory very well, especially if allowed to express it in the right way, and certainly a company that does it in a masterly way is Cantine dell’Angelo . Located in the municipality of Tufo, it cultivates with a low impact agriculture only Greco di Tufo grapes .

The five hectares are divided into two areas: Campanaro , 600 meters above sea level on the ancient sulfur mines, and Torrefavale . This unique production area gives the wine unique organoleptic characteristics, full of all the strength that nature can offer. As the history of wine teaches, however, for very thick wines it is not enough to be in the right place, but you also need the right hand that knows how to take care of it, or in this case the right generation. In fact, since 1970 the Muto family has been taking care of its vineyards in a traditional way, a tradition handed down from father to son. We are now in the third generation and the preparation of Angelo Muto , combined with the ability of the winemaker Luigi Sarno, led to a forward-looking project.

The wines of Cantine dell’Angelo

Since 2006, in fact, they have only vinified their Greco di Tufo grapes. The bunches are sieved by hand one by one and through a soft squeezing the must is obtained which, fermented at low temperature, ensures that the aromas of the vine are fully preserved. The wine is bottled only after a natural achievement of the fullness of maturation, without those artificial acceleration procedures. The result are proposals of the highest quality and with unrepeatable properties, such as Greco di Tufo Miniere , a white with a golden yellow color and a fresh and pleasantly sulphurous sip, and Greco di Tufo Torrefavale , with a brighter color and a more intense mouth. A truly original and unmistakable offer.
