Founded in 1978 by Silvano Piacentini, father of the current owner Luigi Cantine Gemma, over time it has equipped itself with modern structures, which reflect a significant attention to the environment, so much so that, in 2012, it was built with innovative construction techniques complete with plant photovoltaic and geothermal, thus obtaining Iso / 14067 certification for the zero emission of carbon dioxide in the environment, from the vineyard to the consumption of the bottle. From here you can already understand the philosophy behind this company, that of having it very clear that making fine wine must not be at the expense of either the environment or the final consumer. Cantine Gemma Wines

The company’s vineyards have an average age between 25 and 30 years, and are cultivated on about 26 hectares, composed of a soil with ideal characteristics, with equally significant exposures and altitudes for the good ripening of the grapes and located in the various municipalities between Alba. , La Morra, Monforte d’Alba, Roddi, Roddino, Serralunga and Sinio. Here the classic Piedmontese red grape varieties DOC and DOCG are grown, giving life to wines of great identity and character such as Barolo, Barolo Colarej, Barolo Riserva Giblin, Barbera d’Alba Angelini, Barbera d’Alba Superiore Gelso, Dolcetto d ‘ Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo Ruja.

A peculiarity of this company is a small vineyard of Rossese, an ancient and late Piedmontese white grape variety that has survived to this day, located in Giubellini, in the sub-area of ​​Monforte d’Alba, from which a rare white wine is obtained, the Verdiana.

Together with Luigi Piacentini, the oenologist and agronomist Giorgio Barbero, who follows all the production phases of the company, leads the activities in the cellar. A collaboration that has given really important results, which are reflected in the well-made and articulated line offered. Each wine has its own characteristic given by the vine of origin.

Cantine Gamma also offers the possibility of visits to the new cellar, where you can admire the important innovations of the structure with a very low environmental impact, which are set in a centuries-old history, made of Piedmontese wine tradition.
