Cantine Vitea has its headquarters in Loglio di Sopra, a fraction of the municipality of Montù Beccaria, in the province of Pavia, in Lombardy.

The farm lands are located on the hills of Oltrepò Pavese, in the Versa Valley, which represents the second valley that opens into the Apennines. An area that of Oltrepò with an ancient wine tradition, which today is the third most important DOC area in Italy and the first in the region.

The history of this company dates back to 1895, with Antonio Faravelli, who started agricultural activities in Montù Beccaria thanks to his wife’s land.

But the company as it is conceived today is the result of the peaceful split that took place between the Faravelli brothers in 2007 and the significant renovation and modernization work that took place in 2008, which mainly concerned the cellar. Cantine Vitea is currently managed by Stefano Faravelli and his sister Gaia, thus resulting in a young and dynamic reality, but aware of being the heirs of a centuries-old tradition.

The 10 hectares of vines, almost totally in a single body and cultivated with Croatina, Barbera and Pinot Nero vines, have excellent exposure and a perfect microclimate, with an altitude ranging from 230 to 275 m a.s.l. And clayey and calcareous soils, all characteristics that together allow the grapes to ripen well.

The processing both in the vineyard and in the cellar is conceived in respect of the natural cycles and of the territory. The philosophy of the company is in fact based on the well-being of the vineyard, which is then reflected in genuine wines.

In this regard, the vineyards are cared for through healthy viticulture, which makes use of defense techniques, defined Lotta Integrata. It is a recognized and regulated practice of crop protection, which can be considered the right compromise between conventional and organic agriculture. The company is in fact engaged in projects for the defense of biodiversity and the enhancement of the territory.

The cellar is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, which check the wine throughout its processing and stay in the cellar. The line offered is well articulated and the production includes wines with a controlled denomination of origin and sealed by the brand of the Oltrepo Pavese Consortium.

Among the labels, the Buttafuoco Oltrepò Pavese Ca ‘del Cervo Rosso Doc, obtained from the small vineyard of Castana, is a rhapsodic wine, while the Terra Oltrepò Pavese Sangue di Giuda Doc, a sweet red wine, made from Croatina grapes, Barbera , Vespolina, reflects the atmosphere of this valley.

With a different character, the Viteus Riesling Oltrepò Pavese DOC and the Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese Fermo Historia Rosso Doc, the first fresh and delicate and the second with its spicy and pleasantly flattering aromas, express the backbone of this company.

But overall, the whole range has a potential that suggests a future that is increasingly marked by prestigious productions.
