Filodivino

Organic Winery

(SAN MARCELLO – ANCONA) Filodivino in the Marche is specialized in the production of classic Marche wines such as Verdicchio Classico dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba with the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent Wine-Resort.

The History of Filodivino

Filodivino is based in San Marcello, in the province of Ancona in the Marche region, in an enchanting valley among the most beautiful in Italy.

The winery and the Wineresort Filodivino are located in the Vallesina: an unspoiled natural amphitheater where the gaze makes space between rolling hills that slope down to the sea and enchanting historic villages perched on the top.

As is well known, the most beautiful places are often also the most suitable for the production of wines of great identity. And it is in fact here that the Filodivino winery was born in 2014 from the meeting of 4 Friends with Matteo Chiucconi, who takes care of the agronomic and oenological aspects.

This story began with the aim of recovering and converting an old abandoned vineyard to organic and now the dream has become reality under the guidance of Alberto Gandolfi.

Oltre alla produzione di vino Filodivino dona grande importanza all’ospitalità e all’enoturismo mettendo a disposizione i suggestivi spazi del Wine Resort.

A great adventure born from a long passion and bond with this land and undertaken in order to enhance the great enological potential of the Marche region with great attention to environmental sustainability and biodiversity.

In fact, the Filodivino Winery boasts an entirely certified organic production that saw its debut with the 2018 harvest, enjoying great success.

The Terroir of Filodivino wines

Filodivino today has about 20 hectares of vineyards located halfway between the sea and the mountains, of which 12 are dedicated to Verdicchio, 6 to Lacrima di Morro and 2 to international varieties.

The climate here is sub-Mediterranean favored by the thermoregulatory action of the Mediterranean Sea: the cool sea breeze mitigates the heat by caressing the vines in the summer months, while the Pesaresi Hills protect them in winter from the north winds.

The soils are mainly clayey-calcareous and sandy of Pliocene origin and the exposures and altitudes vary around 250 s.l.m.

This pedoclimatic heterogeneity allows the selection and assembly of grapes from different plots with different characteristics in order to ensure, with oenological precision, the consistency and organoleptic balance of the wines in the different vintages, also according to the different needs of the vines.

All extremely favorable elements for an excellent ripening of the grapes and for the production of wines of great structure, strength and character, especially for Verdicchio and Lacrima.

And Verdicchio and Lacrima are the protagonists of Filodivino’s production, which find an ideal habitat in the hills of Vallesina, giving life to rich, intense wines with great olfactory expressiveness that particularly enhance the savory mineral tones and sensational freshness.

The Philosophy of Filodivino wines

Tradition is certainly an essential element in the production of Filodivino wines, but traditional, as has been learned in the Marche region, to be effective cannot ignore the dialectic with the present.

It is for this reason that Filodivino has undertaken important investments to promote the best cutting-edge technologies in order to ensure quality wines, consistency and precision.

Another pillar of Filodivino is respect for biodiversity and environmental sustainability. The winery, architecturally very impressive, is in fact built underground with natural materials so as not to impact the landscape.

Furthermore, the production is entirely certified organic and works in the vineyard with natural and meticulous interventions to ensure healthy grapes with excellent ripeness that therefore do not need invasive corrective interventions during the vinification phase.

The Wines of Filodivino

The production of wines is entirely focused on the traditional denominations of the Marche such as Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba.

The vines vinified are therefore the traditional ones of the Marches such as the inevitable Verdicchio, a very versatile variety counted among the most interesting Italian white grape varieties that are acquiring more and more international charm and popularity.

Verdicchio produces both fresh wines of great immediacy and sensational very gastronomic flavor such as the ‘Matto’ Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore, which seduces the nose with fresh notes of broom, orange blossom, acacia and Mediterranean scrub.

Verdicchio is also interesting in the Riserva versions, with prolonged refinements as in the Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva ‘Dino’. A more voluminous wine on the palate and complex on the nose, which over time embellishes its fruity floral varietal tones with sensational tertiary aromas and aroma precursors that recall salt and hydrocarbons.

Lacrima, on the other hand, is a medium-early ripening red grape variety with great freshness and measured and well-defined tannic textures. Of particular interest is the Lacrima del Morro d’Alba ‘Diana’, very engaging thanks to its captivating aromas that recall small red fruits and floral and undergrowth nuances.

The intrinsic acidity of the vines ensure interesting results in sparkling winemaking, such as with the ‘Ali’ Brut Rosé wine, obtained from Lacrima, but also the ‘Vibrato’ Spumante Brut, based on Verdicchio.

The macerated white wine aged in ‘Coccio‘ amphora should also be considered, a whimsical wine that maximizes the varietal character of Verdicchio. A wine we will surely hear about.

But the Filodivino wine line is all about discovering and once again testifies to the great expressive potential of the Marchigiano terroir.
