(LUOGOSANO – AVELLINO) In Irpinia the lawyer Riccardo Morelli and his family produce red and white wines from Campania in the La Molara winery. The top wine of the company is the red wine Santa Vara Taurasi DOCG Riserva vintage 2009.

La Molara’s History and Terroir

We are located in the heart of the province of Avellino, in Irpinia, a geographical area suitable for the production of important DOC and DOCG, a territory that extends over the central-eastern part of Campania, and which does not have an outlet on the sea, but is spread over areas mainly mountainous. Here is Luogosano , the ancient Locossano, where the La Molara farm has its own seven hectares of vineyards, which overlook the valley of the Calore river, a land that has always given wines of great value.

Established in 2002, the first harvest carried out in 2001, the Azienda Agricola La Molara currently has, as its partner, the Neapolitan lawyer Riccardo Morelli with his family.

The Philosophy of the wines of La Molara

The Company avails itself of the presence and collaboration of Professor Pasquale Di Stasio , Head of the Cellar, and Giovanni Soriano , Head of Product and Operations in the Vineyard. The team is completed by Antonio Pesce , Wine – Maker, and Maria Rosaria di Stasio .

The plant is completely organized to carry out the entire production cycle: destemmer, soft pressing machine, pumps and filters. The fermentation and storage tanks are made of stainless steel and the red wine is also completed in woods of various sizes (tonneau – barrique – barrels) but all of French oak.

A complete bottling and labeling line completes the equipment. The soils on which the vineyards of the company rest are mainly mixed-clayey; the planting density is 6000 plants per hectare, with both guyot and spurred cordon training systems.

The wines of La Molara

The harvest is always and rigorously done manually, with baskets of about 15 kilograms. The wine / flag of the Azienda Agricola La Molara is the ” Santa Vara Taurasi DOCG Riserva vintage 2009 “; it is an Aglianico vinified in purity, with the grapes of the Vigna of the same name which is located at the gates of Luogosano, a wine that reaches its balance ten years after the harvest, three of which passed in wood.

This is the production of La Molara: Santa Vara Taurasi DOCG Riserva , Santa Vara Taurasi DOCG , Vigna ClaudiaIrpinia DOC Campi Taurasini , these are the red wines; Greco di Tufo DOCG , Fiano di Avellino DOCG , Irpinia DOC Bianco , Sannio Falanghina DOP , whites. The range is completed by an Irpinia Fiano DOC Brut Spumante Millesimato , and an Aglianico VS Brut rosé Spumante Millesimato and a Passito is being refinedfrom Aglianico grapes.
