‘Marburg’ Friuli Colli Orientali DOC Merlot 2016 – Castello di Buttrio

Castello di Buttrio’s ‘Marburg’ Friuli Colli Orientali DOC Merlot 2016 is revealed in the glass of intense and impenetrable ruby color. Olfactory it traces unmistakable notes of blueberries and wild raspberries, which fade towards tones of undergrowth and humus. The Bouquet is also embellished with sweet woody spices of white chocolate and cleverly integrated cloves.

The sip is wide and pleasantly fresh, assisted by a pleasant flavor that amplifies the sensations on the palate. The tannin is well smoothed and stretches towards a persistent finish in which the fruity floral tones echo.

Maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks for 2-3 weeks with periodic pumping over. Malolactic fermentation follows. Refine 10-11 months partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in barrique.

An engaging wine: the result of a philosophy that maximizes the potential of the terroir of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. Penetrating aromas and soft and voluminous palate, among the best interpretations of Merlot in Italy for its captivating drink and tannins of unusual finesse. Great potential in food pairing.
