Monteversa’s History and Philosophy

The harmonious profiles of the Euganean Hills, which occupy the south-western part of the province of Padua, are a large green oasis, which breaks the flat monotony of the Venetian plain. Their ancient volcanic origin has produced a singular landscape, with suggestive views of the wide valleys, where the view extends from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea.

The company a, led by the Voltazza family, is located right in the heart of the Euganean Hills, in the municipality of Vo ‘and enjoys that view, which already fascinated in the 14th century Francesco Petrarca, and is dominated by Monte Versa, a hill that rises right in the heart of this area, an area particularly predisposed to the cultivation of a prestigious viticulture.

The lands on which the vineyards rest, arranged 360 ° on the top of Mount Versa, are of volcanic origin, very suitable for the cultivation of grapes, which make the wines produced rich in acidity, with really interesting mineral notes, thanks to a constant and natural ventilation, with good exposure and temperature range. The production purpose is to create wines with a strong identity, and expression of the territory, with a care for the environment and biodiversity, through a certified organic culture.

The company’s philosophy is based on the concept that, since wine is a food as such, it must give pleasure, while respecting the natural timing without any forcing. In fact, the wines are obtained from vines between the ages of 20 and 40 years, the latter used for the thicker productions, such as the Animaversa, the top of the range red of the company, a Bordeaux cut obtained with the best selections of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In the cellar, the processing is careful to maintain the typical essence of the grapes and each wine produced has its own peculiarity, which is found in the names of the labels, which connect directly to the land produced, even if unique, but with different emotions for each expression, such as the Saver, which contains all the “knowledge” of carefully worked and selected grapes, made from 100% glera grapes, is fresh, slightly rustic, the Primaversa a white from Moscato Giallo, rich in perfumes, the Versavo ‘, which combines the name of the mountain and Vo ‘, the country the company belongs to, a perfect combination of Manzoni Bianco, Garganega, Chardonnay and Moscato Giallo.

But the whole range offered is well organized and leaves room for excellent whites and reds of great character, elegance and identity.
