It has an impenetrable ruby red color, a wide bouquet stands out on the nose that ranges from hints of marasca cherry, blackberry, humus and vegetable epiphanies, to give space to tertiary suggestions of vanilla, licorice and coffee.
On the palate it is warm with an enveloping, silky tannic texture and a long seductive balsamic persistence. It ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature and ages 18 months in medium-toasted first-passage barriques.
From one of the most iconic wineries in Italy, a superb wine of unusual eloquence and elegance. Deservedly among the best Italian red wines.
