Siddùra’s History and Terroir

We are in the mythical island of north-eastern Sardinia, and precisely in the heart of Gallura, an area particularly suited to the cultivation and production of high-quality wines. It is precisely in this area, among the cork-oak forest blown by the salty wind, the granites, the woods of Mediterranean scrub and the microclimate, that the vines like Vermentino, Cannonau, have found their ideal habitat. The Cannonau has been recognized as the DOCG denomination in 1996. Vermentino is considered one of the oldest wines of the Mediterranean Basin, but  Cagnulari as well has found its habitat with its unique perfume.

Siddùra is located precisely near the picturesque medieval village of Luogosanto, in the province of Sassari. It is a young company founded in 2008, thanks to the friendship of the two partners, the German Nathan Gottesdiener and Massimo Ruggero, who have created a modern and innovative winery. Ruggero transformed an old charming abandoned property immersed in that Sardinian Mediterranean scrub, characterized by that unmistakable scent of wild myrtle. Elegance is the keyword for this company both for buildings and for its wines.

The Philosophy of the wines of Siddùra

Siddùra, with its 37 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Cannonau, Cangulari, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Vermentino, has a philosophy that is attentive to the sustainability of production.  In the vineyard and cellar, the treatments are limited and targeted, thanks to a specialized staff of the highest level, which uses advanced techniques and technologies.

The wines of Siddùra

The proposed line is well organized, and Siddùra wines have the characteristic of restoring purity and elegance in a distinct, impeccable, and recognizable style. The processing of Vermentino stands out; it’s sufficient to mention the delicate and intricate firstborn Vermentino Maìa, or the refined Berù. However, also the delightful Rosé, new entry of the house, Nudo 100% Cannonau Doc, is a surprising expression conquest. A winery that is also gaining ground internationally and that contributes to the already well-known production of respectful Sardinian wines, which in recent years have become increasingly evolved and interesting.
