Tenuta di Lilliano’s History and Philosophy

The historical events in Tuscany in that strip of territory between Florence and Siena refer to dramatic struggles between the two cities for the conquest and therefore the maintenance of the countryside, which meant agricultural goods, wood for construction and so on, in a word the wealth or , if you prefer, survival. Well, in medieval times, Lilliano was one of those fortified outposts which, by virtue of its strategic position, on the border between Siena and Florence, was the one most at risk, as soon as the situation between the two cities precipitated, from which sieges and devastations . History can be said to breathe there.

Without wishing to diminish so much past, today the estate is renowned for many other merits, in fact, since 1920, when it was purchased by the Ruspoli Berlingieri family , the wine-growing activity was flourishing, with the sale of bulk wine, and a little unpretentious, but then, in 1958 the princess Eleonora began a real bottling and a rational marketing, which over time has earned the house fame and prestige, for the predisposition to the quality that has always distinguished it.

The wines of Tenuta di Lilliano

From the remarkable range of wines, we want to point out the Anagallis Colli of Central Tuscany , obtained from Sangiovese , Colorino and Merlot , which presents itself with an intense and continuous ruby red, an olfactory picture of blackberries and jam, which on the palate becomes strength and consistency, but round and harmonious, with a prolonged finish. The Chianti Classico , from Sangiovese , Colorino and, on the same line, with aromas of spices and fruits, a palate well balanced thanks to its soft tannins. Petit Verdot also enters the Anagallis blend.
