Vigneti Villabella’s History and Philosophy
The production area of Bardolino wines where the vines are reflected in Lake Garda, dates back to the Bronze Age, as evidenced by some seeds found in the stilt houses of Peschiera, Lazise, Cisano and Pacengo, in fact it shows that it was already inhabited in prehistoric times with a palafittic settlement, but it became a true inhabited nucleus only in Roman times. But Bardolino has always been fought over by powerful feudal lords and noble families, even in more recent times, and is currently a significant wine production area in the Veneto. Its mild climate, exposure to the sun, the balance of rains and temperatures, the variety of soils characterized by sand, gravel and clay, with the passion and skill of the producers, make this area really interesting for a good viticulture.
And right in the heart of the classic Bardolino, on the morainic hills overlooking the lake in Calmasino in the province of Verona, which is home to the Vigneti Villabella company; founded in 1971 by the Cristoforetti and Delibori families, it is currently managed by the sons Tiziano Delibori, Angela and Franco Cristoforetti. The viticultural patrimony is of about 220 hectares between ownership and management. The strategic center of the company is represented by the estate of Villa Cordevigo, an oasis of viticulture and landscaping with partial biological management, which preserves the soul of the place while respecting the environment that surrounds Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais, an 18th century Venetian villa used for hospitality and promotion of the wines produced.
The wines of Vigneti Villabella
The estate has 100 hectares of vineyards, 23 of which are organically grown. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, an organic, eco-sustainable cultivation is respected, respecting the environment and natural processing times. Supporting the work in the cellar equipped with the latest technologies is a virtuous and attentive practice for the production of wines that reflect both the essence of the territory and that of the native grapes of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, Corvinone, Garganega, Corvina and Oseleta, which of the international grapes of Sauvignon Blanco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot.
The wine production of the company represents the controlled denomination of origin of Bardolino, Chiaretto, Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, Lugana, Custoza, Soave and Garda, in addition to the cru of Villa Cordevigo. The proposed line is well articulated and very wide, expressing the essence of wines such as: Villa Cordevigo Bardolino doc Classico Biologico, Villa Cordevigo Bianco Veronese igt, Villa Cordevigo Rosso Veronese igt, Cordevigo Oseleta, Rosso Veronese igt.
