Villa Fiorita’s History and Philosophy

Villa Fiorita is an ancient noble residence dating back to the early nineteenth century, and is located a few kilometers from Asti, on sunny hills facing south facing the Tanaro Valley, and is located along the state road that connects Asti with Alessandria in the near Castello di Annone, where the landscape is truly suggestive and tells of a glorious history and an important winemaking tradition, and is easily accessible from the Turin-Piacenza highway exiting at Felizzano or Asti Est.

The history of Villa Fiorita, one of the most renowned and elegant manor houses, dates back to an illustrious past when in the early 1800s the nobles of Piedmont competed to grab the best slopes and vinified by linking the name of the house to the product of the vineyard.

It was purchased in 1985 by the Rondolino family, whose origins date back to the beginning of the 15th century, and which for generations owned vineyards and lands with clear wine-making boundaries and left vineyards such as Barolo, Ghemme and Gattinara as assets for future management.

Villa-floweredThe 12 hectares of vineyards planted in the Monferrato hills, here the wines are those linked to the territory in particular Barbera d’Asti and Grignolino d’Asti, but also wines produced with French-owned grapes, such as Pinot Noir , Chardonnay and Sauvignon and which are getting a good response in national and international markets. A company that, starting from its own grapes, has been able to guarantee the high degree of quality and value of its products.

The management is currently entrusted to Francesco Rondolino, who started what was an important restructuring that took place in the 80s, arranging the company’s historic cellars in a more functional way, and providing them with new rooms with the most advanced technologies. winemaking, in which the processing, once the scrupulous work in the vineyard is finished, allows monitoring and supervision of the entire production phase: from vinification to aging in barrique and aging in glass.

The wines of Villa Fiorita

villa-fiorita2The proposed line is organized in an excellent way and contains a variety of excellent labels, awarded and renowned both nationally and internationally. To underline are: Barbera Superiore and Pinot Noir Abaco, obtained from pure Pinot Noir, or Abaco Rosè always obtained from pure Pinot Noir grapes; as we well know, it is not easy to vinify this grape variety in an excellent way, but these two wines are an example of that excellence that only Piedmontese are able to achieve. Nothing to take away from the intense and elegant Giorgione Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG, made exclusively from Barbera grapes, as well as Sauvignon Le Corti which is voluminous and balanced and is made with the vineyards of the most suitable slopes of the VillaFiorita hills.

And finally, the warm and harmonious Nero di Villa Family Reserve that is produced from vineyards planted with Pinot Noir clones from Burgundy. But the whole range reflects the great Piedmontese wine tradition, where the wine and time seems to remain unchanged, but that only expert hands know how to ferry into the present with skill and foresight.
