Zenato’s History and Philosophy
The oldest and most renowned denomination of Veneto is undoubtedly Valpolicella , which is located north of Verona . Veneto is one of the major wine producers in all of Italy and has many denominations in addition to Valpolicella. Among the main companies of this denomination we find Zenato , present in Valpolicella, but originally from Lugana . The story begins in 1960, when Sergio Zenato founded his winery in Peschiera del Garda, understanding the enormous potential of the native Trebbiano di Lugana grape .
He decides to focus precisely on this variety, when nobody yet believed it, enhancing its unexpressed potential. Thanks to tireless work, tenacity, conviction and creative talent, the name Lugana has acquired prestige over time and has become synonymous with quality, as Lugana San Benedetto , Lugana S. Cristina del Podere Massoni have demonstrated for decades and, above all, the excellent Lugana Riserva.
The wines of Zenato
Inevitably, however, the challenge that Valpolicella represented had to be faced, and was done with the acquisition of over 50 hectares of excellent vineyards in Sant’Ambrogio , an area of first quality known for the production of high-level wines. The Corvina , Rondinel la and Oseleta grapes are grown here , from which the classic red wines of the province of Verona are obtained: the Valpolicella Classico Superiore , the Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore , the Amarone Classico and the Amarone Riserva Sergio Zenato, which is produced only in particular vintages that aim to achieve excellence. Only the experience and the intimate relationship with the vineyard allow us to understand when a vintage can become a Reserve and each time this intuition gives life to wines that express new, original and exclusive emotions.
